Sheffield based law firm SSB Group Limited have officially entered Administration. This took place on 4th January 2024, following talks in the previous year about the possibility of calling in administrators.

Currently the insolvency firm FRP Advisory have been appointed to handle the process, and around 200 jobs have been lost due to this closure.

We have recently seen that SSB has previously been in hot water regarding their involvement in dealing with cavity wall insulation claims. These cases were handled negligently and resulted in many client’s cases being struck out.

This isn’t the first time that we have recently seen law firms enter administration, with hundreds of people losing their jobs. Originally SSB stepped in to take over the claims which were being dealt with by Pilkington Shaw and Pure Legal after they both entered administration back in 2021.

What does this mean for cases handled by SSB?

The administration of SSB now leaves questions for those clients whose cases have been moved from one solicitor to another.

They may have grounds for these clients to put a case forward for solicitor negligence, as many people have experienced extensive stress from this ordeal. There have also been people who’ve been asked to pay court costs for their struck out or discontinued claims, causing financial problems and worry.

Unfortunately, it’s too early to say where the cases handled by SSB will end up, but if you’ve experienced solicitor negligence, we’re here to help.

Where does the compensation come from if SSB have entered administration?

Even though SSB have entered administration, the money you receive from the successful solicitor negligence case will come from SSB’s malpractice insurance. This will still be valid despite the administration status of the company.
